  • Individual Art Therapy allows one-on-one attention, where you and your therapist will work hand in hand on a healing process that is tailored specifically to your mental health needs.

    The one-on-one time will foster a safe environment and trust between you and your therapist to support your personal growth.

  • We may not always have access to our conscious stream of thinking but art has a way of accessing the unconscious parts of our experience.

    This process can help us understand our actions, thought patterns, and feelings. Therefore it will also help us support our future choices.

  • When we have been experiencing something for a long time, it is easy for us to attach the thought and feeling as part of our identity. When we externalize it (draw it out), this process helps us detach from the problems, giving us space to understand it and can better manage it.

    It is also cathartic and can help reduce self-stigma and shame in our own experience.

  • Art is a great tool for mindfulness. The process allows us to connect with the present moment and help us stay grounded.

  • Art Therapy can help us connect with our creativity. This creative connection can then expand into more areas in our lives.

Session Structure

  • Our session usually starts with a short check-in, either verbally or through a short art exercise, or mindfulness.

  • The art therapist will then offer an art directive to help you explore a particular theme in a creative way that reaches your unconscious level of thinking. The art therapist may suggest using certain art materials depending on your needs or the goal of the session.

  • We will then have an in-depth discussion about your artwork. This discussion will help us reflect and gain insights. We may ask different questions about your experience to help you understand your artwork or the process better.

Our Art Therapy Fee

On average, individual art therapy sessions are $120 plus HST. Depending on the Art Therapist’s experience and expertise, it can go up to $175 plus HST.

Sliding Scale

Each of our therapists has their own fee listed next to their profile here. Suppose you are having financial difficulties at the moment. In that case, some Art Therapists do provide a reduced rate (sliding scale), please be sure to book a free 15 min consultation to inform your Art Therapist and you will both decide on a fee that is suitable for you.

Insurance Coverage

*Most of our Art Therapists are also Registered Psychotherapists (RP), therefore it will be covered under an insurance plan that covers Psychotherapy, please double-check with your insurance provider.

Funding Option for Children
